Our 45th Reunion
in the Year 2000
1955 - 2000

Saturday Morning, the decorators - Sept 30, 2000
for the Reunion Dinner and Dance
Hyatt Hotel - Shoreline in Long Beach
The meeting was informal, in fact with the Lakers Game on the Giant TV and each one of us with our own agenda, we were really quite unruly. Joyce Murchison and Arnie Shusterman were the facilitators. The rest of us just chatted and a good time was had by all. Somehow we individually passed information around the room and the meeting was a great success !

Those Attending:
Dean Fife, Pat (Shearer) Ford, Mary Lou West, Joyce (Ritchie) Murchison, Maureen (Coffey) Krull, Barbara (Riedman) Butler, Patty (Mayer) Burton, Frank Pizatta, Jackie Burns, Arnie Shusterman and Glenn Seltzer. Thanks should go to Joyce for serving a super strawberry dessert and drinks.

Dean Fife  gave a financial report.  He also provided a print out with the list of names of the alumni who have responded to date.  A copy was given to  each attending committee member.   Thank you Dean for all of the hard work and please thank your son Greg for his marverlous contributions.

Arnie will check out the availability of the Hyatt Hotel audio system to make sure we have a CD unit with a microphone and a reverb unit for the entertainment. We will rent an audio system with a microphone and 5 disc CD player from the hotel. Our program material will be 50's music primarily compiled by Milt Butler. However if any of you have CD's with 50's pop music, let Barbara Butler know.

Joyce will verify the chicken entree and a separate vegetarian entree is available.

Jackie Burns reported on her concept of the decorations. The concern of the committee was the expense of the "surprise decorations and structures" Jackie said she had it covered and would pay for decorations and use them once she is back in UTAH. The committee stated it would help augment the expenses.

Jackie and Glenn will view the room at the Hyatt in order to determine how much space. The availability of dance floor, risers, china, tablecloth colors and choices.
Jackie Burns will create name tags, she had examples. Glenn will have to schedule a work party in order to recondition the Juke Box and "1955" Displays.

If we have over 120 people then a bar will be set up  in the foyer.

Jackie and Rod will, put together some entertainment. Jackie's granddaughter is a Professional Irish Clog Dance Teacher and will do a number of two for us. Jackie has consented to sing a couple of numbers for us. By the way, four of her vocal selections  are included in a new commemorative CD set release.

Third mailing is July 1. The letter will have another tear-off reservation form.  Third mailing (if needed) is mid July.

Last mailing is in September.
Next meeting is July 26 at Barbaras'

Uncertain of the date you are preparing the letter for the fourth mailing, but would like to include some information regarding the QM.  I spoke with the QM employee named Chiffon(?).  She provided these facts.

The Observation bar is located on the Promenade deck (towards the bow of the ship).  The bar is open to the public nightly, but they will "mark off"  50 or 60 places Friday evening for our Jordan reunion group.  Complimentary Hors d'Oeuvres are served at 5:00 p.m. for patrons in the bar.  Live music is also provided in the evening.
Parking will be reduced to $4.00 when the attendant is told you are from Jordan High and there to attend a reunion gathering in the Observation Bar. An entry fee to board the ship is also being waived according to our QM contact.
There is a free Runabout Shuttle that stops at many locations in downtown Long Beach, and includes a stop at the Queen Mary.

Join us for a grand prelude to our 45th year reunion banquet.
