In 1955 President Eisenhower was President, Ray Kroc opens his first McDonald’s restaurant, Disneyland opened in Anaheim, the minimum wage was $1.00 per hour, and first class postage was 3 cents. In that same year 558 seventeen and eighteen year olds graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, California.

In 1965 a small group of classmates, spearheaded by Bill Steuber, met to plan our first reunion celebration. Over the years a core group of grads have met, periodically, to plan and produce several more reunion celebrations. This year, your committee has planned a week of activities befitting the significance of our 50^th reunion. We have managed to keep in touch with about half of our class. If you are reading this letter you are among the fortunate. Don’t pass up this opportunity to celebrate this event by sharing the last fifty years with your classmates. For the Big Party we are returning to the beautiful Catalina Room of the Long Beach Hilton Hotel. Dinner choices include three entrees: Prime Rib, Salmon or Vegetarian. The dinner “package” is $60 per person. Included in the package is one copy of the Trailblazer+50yrs with each pair of dinners ($20 value).

Each dinner table will be decorated with a Centerpiece designed by a classmate. There are ten tables in all and we need six more center pieces. If you are interested in creating a centerpiece please contact Glenn Seltzer for details.

A Memorabilia Board will be displayed at both the Picnic and the Dinner Party. If you have any pictures or other material you would like to contribute to the display contact Dean Fife.

Hotel Accommodations - For those who wish to spend Sunday night in Long Beach, the Hilton has set aside a number of rooms at the special rate of $149. Hotel guests may leave their car parked while on the cruise at the special rate of $7 per day. There is a shuttle available from the hotel to the cruise ship dock.

TRAILBLAZER+50yrs

To commemorate this special event we are producing a two-part memory book we’re calling the Trailblazer+50yrs. Part one will include a gallery of pictures taken the night of the dinner, photos sent to us by classmates who are unable to attend, and addresses of all who respond to our survey. Part two will consist of biographical information provided by you. Please complete and return the accompanying survey form. If you are not going to the Dinner Party, please include a quality color portrait photo. Cruise ship photos can also be used. We want you included in our Trailblazer+50.

Cruise to Catalina and Ensenada

Our very special group rate on the Carnival Cruise Lines “Paradise” will be held as long as possible but you should register ASAP but no later then June 15, 2005. Boarding from 1:30PM Monday from Long Beach, September 12 and return at noon Friday, September 16.
